i-CABLE Renews UEFA Champions League Rights to 2018

i-CABLE Communications Limited, official broadcaster of UEFA Champions League (UCL) in Hong Kong, announced today the extension of its all media rights for another three seasons from 2015 to 2018.

Spanning TV, new media and mobile platforms, this new acquisition yet again reaffirms i-CABLE's on-going commitment to bringing local viewers Europe's top tournament featuring the continent's strongest football clubs. This extension will make i-CABLE official UCL broadcaster for nine straight years from 2009/10 to 2017/18.

i-CABLE's will bring viewers about 100 of UCL's greatest matches every season, including selected games from the Play-offs and Group Stage as well as all matches from Round 16 through to the Final. The Group will also showcase annual season opener the UEFA Super Cup, a battle between reigning champions of UEFA's Champions and Europa Leagues.

"Football fans will be delighted with the tremendous news of i-CABLE Sports providing top UCL action for three more seasons without interruption. UCL is i-CABLE's yet another significant programming initiative following the recent acquisition of qualifiers of 'UEFA European Championship 2016' and European qualifiers of '2018 FIFA World Cup'," says i-CABLE Sports Executive Director Mr. Ronald Chiu.

"As the world's most star-studded football tournament competed by the strongest league teams across Europe, UCL games have always been very popular among local fans despite its often mid-week, late-night kick-offs in Hong Kong time. Their dedication and support are what make us so committed to bringing UCL here again and again.

"Acquiring Europe's top three tournaments featuring national teams and the best football clubs is a vote of confidence and recognition from UEFA for our on-going commitment and quality carriage of such coveted events," Mr. Chiu adds.

Commenting on the award of the UCL rights, UEFA Events SA Marketing Director Mr Guy-Laurent Epstein says UEFA is delighted to renew its partnership with i-CABLE.
