CABLE TV inaugurates 2010 HD World Cup Carnival Venue

(June 8, 2010 - Hong Kong) World Cup fever 2010 in Hong Kong officially started today (Tuesday) as official broadcaster CABLE TV held a ceremony to inaugurate its 2010 HD World Cup Carnival setting at the Hong Kong International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

Throughout the World Cup Final Round spanning June and July, more than 13,000 soccer fans will join CABLE TV's top-notch presenters, commentators and guests in nightly parties, enjoying the excitement of the world's most prestigious soccer actions in high definition broadcast in front of state-of-the-art equipments that include a unique set of 4K HD projector with a 400-in HD screen - the largest in Hong Kong.

All 64 Final Round matches will be broadcast live in HD format, exclusively on CABLE TV's two dedicated HD channels hd201 and hd202 from June 11 to July 12.

All matches will also be carried, in SD format, on CABLE TV's World Cup Channel (Channel 61), Soccer Betting Channel (Channel 64) and CABLE Channel 63.

Also carrying CABLE TV's World Cup flag will be "CABLE No. 1 Channel", which will broadcast live the opening ceremony and opening match between host South Africa and Mexico on June 11, the semi-finals on July 7 and July 8 as well as the final match early July 12.

CABLE No. 1 Channel will also carry match highlight programmes at 10 pm through the World Cup period.

The World Cup Carnival, to start in the evening of June 11, will entertain about 500 fans every night at its 25,000 s.f. venue, which will also double as CABLE TV's South Africa 2010 World Cup broadcasting centre.

The ceremony today was officiated by Mr. Stephen Ng, Chairman and CEO, CABLE TV; Mr. Samuel Tsang, Project Manager, 2010 FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee of CABLE TV; and Mr. Ronald Chiu, Executive Director, i-CABLE News & Sports Ltd.

Joining the programme hosts of 2010 CABLE TV HD World Cup Carnival, soccer commentators and presenters of i-CABLE soccer platform, as well as 12 CABLE TV World Cup Angels on stage were members of the senior management.
